ONE-KEY™ Bluetooth® Card Explainer: Connectivity Delivering Compatibility & Flexibility

The One-Key Bluetooth Card delivers connectivity needed for end users looking to manage their equipment with greater flexibility.

End users now have more control over how they manage equipment as their business and connectivity needs change.

This can be achieved through the new One-Key Bluetooth Card.

In this article, we discuss:

What Is a One-Key Card?

The One-Key Bluetooth Card is a new IoT accessory that brings you the digital experience of One-Key compatible products today while being flexible to your connectivity needs over the life of your equipment.

The One-Key Bluetooth Card delivers the following to enhance your connected experience:

  • Compatibility –One-Key Card (OKC) tools are compatible with the existing One-Key network and bring the same digital location and asset management experience you know with other One-Key tools today.
  • Flexibility The user-accessibility of the One-Key Card gives you increased flexibility in your connected needs by enabling self-service, replacement, or removal of the card as necessary.
  • Security – Once added to your inventory in the One-Key app, the installed OKC is digitally paired to your tool. After this, if the card is removed, your product will enter an automatic security lockout to prevent unauthorized use while connectivity is disabled. Functionality can be restored by reinserting the One-Key Card.

Note: If you wish to purposely remove the card and continue to operate the tool after it has been added to your inventory, you must first unpair your One-Key Card from the tool (process explained below).

How to Add a One-Key Card Product to your Inventory?

Similar to other One-Key compatible products, the tool or equipment must be added to your digital inventory to activate the tracking and security features of the One-Key platform.

To add a new asset with a One-Key Bluetooth card to inventory:

  • Open the One-Key app with your One-Key Card product nearby.
  • From the Inventory Dashboard, select the Add to Inventory icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Identify your product from the dropdown of nearby items.
  • Tap the “Add” button on the right side of the item card.
  • A green checkmark will appear to indicate a successful “Add” to inventory.
  • This process pairs your tool to the installed OKC. You can now track and manage this equipment just like other One-Key tools in your fleet.

    In this section, we’ll discuss:

    1. Unpairing a One-Key Card

Unpairing the One-Key Card allows you to remove it from your equipment without putting your asset into a security lockout. To unpair a Bluetooth Card from the asset it’s been paired with in inventory:

    2.  Physically Replacing your One-Key Card

    • Remove the battery pack from the equipment.
    • Remove the screws from the card cover and pull the cover away.
    • Remove the card from the exposed port.
    • Insert the new ONE-KEY™ card in the same orientation.
    • Replace the cover and screws, tightening securely. The new card can now be digitally paired to the equipment.

    3. Pairing a new One-Key Card

To finish the replacement process and begin tracking with the new One-Key Card, it must be paired to the equipment.

    • Open the One-Key app and find your tool from “My Inventory” or “Nearby Devices”
    • Connect to the equipment.
    • Hit the “Pair” Button next to “Pair One-Key Card”. Once the confirmation appears, the new card is now paired to your equipment and can be tracked in One-Key.
